Mayonnaise

Mayonnaise is a cold creamy white sauce on the basis of oil and eggs and is often eaten together with fried food, salads or other cold dishes, but is also often used as a base for other sauces or dressings.

Although there are many different recipes to make mayonnaise, it is eaten anywhere in the world, but due to the high fat (oil) percentage people look more and more for low-calorie alternatives.

In some, mainly African, countries that do not always have access to refrigerated storage, mayonnaise is often used as a substitute for butter.
